Data is the lifeblood of your organization: You need it to help analyze results and trends in order to make good decisions. But what happens to the data if you move your ERP system from on-premise to Sage Intacct?
Here are the five most common questions potential customers have:
1. Can other customers see my data?
Short answer … no. The longer explanation would be that in traditional on-premise applications, customers would build hardware and install the accounting software on their server, which would be theirs and theirs alone. Sage Intacct, like most leading cloud applications, is built on a multiple-tenancy architecture, which means that there is one application that all customers use. When you log into the application, the data is partitioned so that it knows who you are and will only show you your information.
2. Can the cloud provider access my data?
Sage Intacct is keenly aware that data security and privacy is a critical aspect of the cloud. They have a physical and logical security setup that, unless you grant them access, prevents any of their employees from seeing your data. If Sage Intacct support needs to access your environment, you would log into your application and specifically grant them access. You can also specify an expiration date so that this access would be for a limited time of your choosing.
3. Can I control who can see my data internally?
Of course. Sage Intacct has a user, groups, roles and permissions concept that allows you to modify security in order to grant access to transact (e.g. add a vendor) and control what data any individual user can see (e.g. only allow this accountant to see the business unit or companies they support). Furthermore, there are multiple advanced security settings that provide additional security measures, such as single sign-on, dual-factor identification, and vendor- and entity-based security provisioning.
4. How do I access my data?
There are a number of ways in which you can interact with your data. Sage Intacct has a built-in robust reporting system that allows you to build dashboards and reports, as well as import non-financial data (such as sales, headcount and other metrics). This would augment your financial data in order to create rich operational/financial reports.
Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and other integration tools also allow you to pull data through actions such as extracting monthly trial balance summaries to send to a data warehouse or an Enterprise Performance Management Application. Sage Intacct can distribute reports through email or mobile applications that allow you to create digital board books that can be viewed on tablets and phones.
5. If I choose migrate off of the cloud system, can I get my data?
Yes. Sage Intacct’s subscription agreements will explain how long you can access your data as part of a termination. If you are moving off of the system, you will need to have a plan in place to determine what data you need, how much, and how to extract it.
With Sage Intacct, your data is very secure. They offer world-class physical and logical security to standards that most private and public companies cannot replicate internally. SkyHigh CloudTrust, who provides a detailed risk assessment of over 4,000 cloud services across 50 attributes, recently awarded Sage Intacct an Enterprise Ready rating, which is awarded to companies that meet the most stringent requirements around data security.
Sage Intacct also eliminates the need to have hardware, software, security infrastructure and personnel internally, eliminating the need of servers, database, security software and keys. Sage Intacct manages that for you like their business depends on it – because it does.
